Georgia Tech is hosting the initial workshop of a consortium of firms that will frame the work processes and matching software tools governing how cast-in-place reinforced concrete structures are designed, analyzed, procured, built and maintained.
The workshop will take place over 1 1/2 days in Kennesaw, GA (just outside Atlanta), starting 13:00 on Thursday, March 30th and expected to run to 17:00 on Friday, March 31st.
The goals of the consortium are to
Define the major challenges/problems for engineers/contractors in cast-in-place concrete
Specify the capabilities needed in an ideal Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool
Guide and test the software as it is implemented
In this founding workshop, our primary aims are to explore and refine the goals of the consortium, establish its structure and agree on the procedures it will follow. The consortium agreements will lay out the scope of the activities, tasks and milestones, the organizational framework, and the commitments of each participating company. We will also set up the communications procedures for collaboration between consortium meetings, and discuss preferences for limiting or expanding consortium membership.
