Dr. Ghang Lee is a Research Scientist in Design Computing at the College of Architecture, Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. In 2005, he received 'ARCC/King ARCC / King Student Medal for Excellence in Architectural + Environmental Design Research' for his thesis work. For the last several years, he's been working on BIM-related research projects including a project to develop an advanced 3D parametric CAD system for the North American precast concrete industry and a project develop an IFC translator for structural data exchange. He's also teaching a parametric and constraint-based modeling course. Before he began his Ph.D. study at Georgia Tech, he worked in the industry as a researcher, architectural designer, and software developer. In 1996, he and his team received the Medal of Merit from the President of Korea for excellence in design and construction quality management. While working in the industry and at Georgia Tech, he developed several registered software applications including the GTPPM - a new process and product modeling method and tool - and several project information management systems (PIMS). He is also a founder of a dot-com company and developer of many interactive websites. His teaching and research interests include advanced design tool development; building information modeling (BIM); process and product data modeling; constraint-based & parametric modeling; project/product lifecycle management (PLM); and knowledge acquisition & management. He has over thirty publications in these areas. (Last updated on January 16, 2006) |
